Scripture: Colossians 3:1-4

“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.” Col. 3:1-4

When we gave our lives to the Lord, we were to put away the old ways, old thinking, and old habits that we did before. Now we seek to be more like Jesus. Now He is our standard of how we are supposed to live. This chapter in Colossians pretty much tells us how we are to live now that we are in Christ. We are to resemble Him. In Ephesians 5, it talks about being imitators of God and verse 2 says, “as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

2 Corinthians 5:17 says “therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” We must walk in the truth of who we are Christ, as new creations. We ought not resemble what the world and everything around us looks like. We are no longer of this world. Ephesians 2:6-7 says, “and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” We are now seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus!

Keep your focus on Jesus who is above and not people and things around you. The second verse of Colossians 3 tells us to set our minds on things that are above. We are to think, say and do what is holy and what pleases God. Our life is in Christ Jesus, and that’s the best place to be!

Prayer: Lord, we thank You for all that you have done for us. We magnify and glorify You. We thank You for this blessed day and this blessed week to come. We pray Lord that we do not lose sight of who You are and who we are in You. We pray that we continue to grow in our knowledge of You. We pray we will not be distracted by the things on this earth whether it be people, circumstances, attacks that come against us, or whatever it may be. We will look to You and keep our eyes focused on You. We pray that You lead us and guide us in every area of our lives. We give You all the glory, honor, and praise. In Jesus’ name, amen.
